The Farm

Every so often Dusty and I go out to his dad's farm.  Sometimes we ride around on tractors or pick vegetables.  Sometimes we fish.  And sometimes we just sit on the tailgate and chat.  It's very peaceful and beautiful and there is always a breeze out there, which means it is always abundantly cooler than anywhere else.  Last week, I took my camera along and snapped some photos of the charming, old farm equipment and such.  Which was kind of nice.  So here you go.

Blanket and Tea

Skirt: Belk, Boots: Gift, Top: Gap, Bracelet: Premier, Bag: Michael Kohrs, Necklace: Thrift, Earrings: F21

Those are pretty much the only things I've been interested in all day.  That and hugs.  Which is a negative, seeing as I wouldn't want to contaminate anyone.  Nothing but a change of seasons runny nose and sore throat, but I'm pretty sure I will soon be approaching my imminent death.  I don't do well with sickness.  Or pain of any sort.  So there is my day.  Class.  Three or four cups of hot tea (I lost count).  Blanket and filling out financial aid forms for school.  Need some cuddles.  Oh, and it rained.  All day long.  Extra lovely.
I'm off to bed now, hoping that all will be sunshine and rainbows in the morning.

Favorite Show

Dress: Dillards (Gift from Mom), Jacket: Old Navy, Belt: Thrifted, Shoes: Target, Necklace: F21, Bracelets and Watch: c/o Mimi's

Insight into the exhilarating life of Ramsey:  My most favorite show, currently on television, is Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.  Ka-pow.  I know the fat, grease, and food coma(ness) of it all may be too much for some, but there is little I love more than snuggling up on a Friday night, watching like three episodes, and mentally planning vacations to each location they visit.  There is no other logical way to plan a vacation you guys.  Anyway, this past Friday marked a visit to a barbecue joint outside of Memphis that had me drooling on the remote, even after I had devoured my weight in hot wings and french fries.  I feel absolutely disgusting just typing that sentence.  You guys, this place had invented the "redneck taco," a cornbread flapjack topped with a mound of BBQ pork, sauce, cole slaw, and all that is holy.  Why has this never occurred to me?  So naturally, I have to try it.  Only instead of smoking a whole hog (because the stinkin' smoker just isn't quite big enough and Costco, ironically, doesn't carry whole hogs), I threw some boneless pork into the crock pot and squeezed in 1/2 a bottle of barbecue sauce.  I would say that's pretty much the same thing.  We shall taste test and deliberate over results shortly.

First Taste of Fall

Shirt: Victoria's Secret, Sweater: Old, DIYed with RIT dye, Pants and Necklace: F21, Shoes: Steve Madden, Watch: Mimi's

Today's weather was absolutely lovely.  I mean made it down to the sixties lovely.  That's a "6" in front of that "ties" (!!!), which means I am now in the mood for snuggling, apple flavored delectables, dependably good hair days, and candles all around.  Perhaps this is a bit premature, but I reserve the right to soak up any ounce of fall goodness as I can get it.  And as frosting on the pumpkin chocolate chip cupcake, look at this little goody that nestled itself in my mail today:

It's been sitting across the couch from me all evening, right behind the great wall of textbooks just waiting to be devoured.  After Evidence and Family Law and Non Profit Law of course.  Because I am a good (or really-scared-of-being-called-on) student after all.  Maybe once I'm snuggled in bed.  That is surely the best place to read fall magazines.  Let's hope this niceness stays around all week!

P.S.  Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cupcakes sound delicious and I'm thinking I'll have to invent a recipe for those soon.

Blazer: vintage/mom's, Skirt: UO, Shirt: F21, Shoes: Steve Madden, Flower brooch: DIY, Bracelets: c/o Mimi's

I feel like it ran away super fast and I kind of missed the whole thing while it was here.  Not that summer weather here in Florida has gone away or anything, because that junk is around for a few more months.  But you know, the pack a picnic, pick some berries, lay back and enjoy the stars type things that you are supposed to do all summer?  Well, we never really got around to a whole lot of that.  And I kind of feel guilty.  Like I got so busy doing that I missed out on some being.  I wish we had taken more evenings and Sunday afternoons just to soak up the summerness of summer.  With the camera along for the ride, of course, because I do have a photo wall in the works which I have failed miserably at enlarging recently.

I'm not writing this as a pity post or to whine about summer being over (because, quite frankly, I could really go for some fall temperatures right about now!), but to note on paper {or into the weviverse as the case may be} and to myself to be more present this season and enjoy more of the loveliness that is fall.
You'll hold me accountable, won't you?

Football is back in town

Shirt: Borrowed from sis, Shoes, Steve Madden, Jeans: J.Crew, Watch and bracelets: c/o Mimi's and John Wind

Which makes for a crowded mall on Saturdays, hamburgers becoming an every-weekend affair, extra afternoon naps for me because heaven forbid I make it through a whole game awake, a busy boyfriend (because he absolutely can make it through a game awake), a sleepy puppy who pees when we don't give him enough attention, a full house because you always have to have friends over in order to make it football, the warchant being back in town, tailgating invites, newbie college students living the campus life, and really happy (and preoccupied) menfolk.
Shopping season is here guys!

How to deal with mornings

Shirt: c/o Karen Kane, Shoes: Old Navy, Laces: Payless, Skirt: UO, Watch: c/o Mimi's
I must five-thirty seriously kicked my rear end this morning.  (Don't laugh or shake your head.  Waking up is hard.)  And the worst part is, I have to do it again tomorrow.  Meh.  So if you have any tips for my staying conscious through the entirety of an hour and fifteen minute Evidence class first thing in the morning, please don't keep them to yourself.  Fortunately, the rain decided to hold off until just now, so it looks like it will be an early bedtime for Ramsey.  Hopefully complete with raindrops on my window.

Hurricane Party

Shirt: c/o Karen Kane, Shorts: F21, Jacket: Vintage (mom's), Shoes: Old Navy, Bag: The Limited, Watch: c/o Mimi's

As seems customary for this time of year (you know, the despicable, school-starting time of year), a lovely little hurricane has decided to make its way on over.  Actually, it's a tropical storm.  And we were all hunkering down, preparing for the worst, only to find out that it is pretty much going to miss us altogether.  Unless, of course, you watch the weather channel.  Which Dusty is absolutely the master at, and which I generally try to avoid because they always seem to convince me that the world is coming to an end via natural disaster.  Drama makes for better TV.  Apparently.  Regardless, we are supposed to be ok here, but all of the county offices (schools included) are off tomorrow.  Unfortunately, law school is not one of them.  So I'll be in class.  While the world enjoys a hurricane party without me.  Now lets just hope I don't get soaked walking to class.

P.S. I do hope that terrible weather does not befall any of you.  Or anyone for that matter.  And I hope you all are able to ride out whatever Isaac may bring from the safety of your cozy little homes.

Rainy days, Puppy Dogs, and Free Hoodies...with two teams on them

Top: c/o Karen Kane, Shoes: Gift, Pants, Necklace, Earrings: F21, Bag: The Limited, Watch: c/o Mimi's

This is what Dusty suggested when I told him I had writers' block.  So here we go.
It rained today.  Not a wimpy little rain either.  Like all day. Nonstop. Gray skies.  Rained.  Which was really lovely other than the fact that I had to leave my warm, dry, house this morning to take the puppy to the   vet.  He had to get booster shots which were far less painful than the process of getting dressed, cleaning up tinkle, chasing him down in the rain, getting re-dressed and showing up late it took me to get him there.  Booger.  I'm sure he is sleeping soundly for his daddy tonight.  Also, free hoodies.  They are awesome and I am wearing one right now.  Because hoodies just seem so appropriate for rainy days, no?  Dusty's friend works at a printing shop and gave us a bunch of tester tees and hoodies for freeeee.  Which explains why my  hoodie has two teams on it.  Nova and Syracuse.  Neither of which do I know anything about.  Call me cultured.  So there you go.  Rain.  Dog.  Hoodie.  My day in a nutshell.
How was your Monday?  I'm enjoying my one week off between work and school and trying to get my act together...aka...figure out how to dress myself more than the new standard: one day a week.

New Man in Town

Top and Scarf: Old Navy, Romper: c/o Emporium, Shoes: UO, Watch: c/o Mimi's, Clutch: Giftshop

We have a new puppy.  Actually Dusty has a new puppy and I have some sort of custody over the little darling, but we really haven't worked out the legalities of that.  All I know is he is a bundle of love and slobber and poop and we are quite smitten.  I really must show you a picture, but they are all on my phone and so you'll have to wait until my lazy wears off and I get a post together dedicated to pictures of puppy sleeping, laying in the grass, mowing down a bowl of dogfood, getting a bath, and playing with his rubber ducky.  Oh yes, we are those people.  Actually, I wish you could see us crawling around on all fours, camera phones at the ready, waiting to catch so much as a sideways glance.  I'm sure it would ruin our reputations as normal people for pretty much ever.
So let's all wish Dusty best of luck for a night filled with the absence of puppy cries so that he will be rested tomorrow.  Because he is the lucky one who gets to sleep with him in his room and take him out three times a night.  I hear that builds character.

Outfit of the Week

Top: Borrowed, Skirt: Dillards, Shoes: Steve Madden, Earrings: F21, Watch and Bracelet: c/o Mimi's

I know that this poor, dear blog has basically been reduced to a single, weekly outfit.  And for that I am sad.    Mostly because the one weekly outfit I post is pretty much the only time I get dressed, like really dressed, each week.  Sad.  My accessories miss me.  I hear their sad little selves weeping at night from there unorganized and too-small box on the dresser.  And I weep a little bit too.  And every morning, I tell them that it is for their own good that I am leaving them at home so that they will not be lost.  And then I realize how odd it is that I am talking to my accessories.  Weeks without the daily jingle of bangles and the perfect shade of red lipstick will do that to a girl.  And let's not even talk about the condition of my nails right now.  But here is my best effort at pulled together for the week.  It was Saturday, after I got off of work and changed out of my campaign tee in the mall parking lot.  I'm pretty sure "classy" would be the proper adjective for that.  In hindsight, I think it could have used a belt.  Ok, now I need to pick myself up and take myself to the shower, where I was supposed to be fifteen minutes ago.  So I can put myself to bed and be up entirely too early in the morning.  Cheerio!

Painted toesies and yoga pants

Yoga pants: c/o Karen Kane, Polish: Essie Mint Candy Apple

Two of my current faves. Even if I'm the only one who sees my painted toe because I wear tennis shoes most days. Eww. I know. Also, yoga pants are incredible and these new ones have my heart won right over. Perfect for HGTV watching and late night snacks. So is my life after work. I know you are so jealous, aren't you? I'm pretty sure I have watched enough home selling shows to jump right into a career as a realtor. Because I'm pretty sure that's how that works. Ok, happy week guys!
