Out of the Woods

At long last I have made it through exams and back to having some semblance of a life.  And by that I mean I have jumped straight from school into the world of photography and party planning to the extreme.  And I must say I am happy as a lark!  Funny how being busy is sometimes so satisfying.  Or maybe I'm the only one who likes to keep her plate a little too full.
I've been abstaining from blogger for a while now in order to focus more on studying.  Turns out, Facebook stepped right in and I have become a picture stalker extrodinaire.  Funny how people you haven't seen or thought about in years can suddenly become your most imminent area of research when you are supposed to be doing something else.  Anywho, Blogger, you went and changed right around on me while I was gone and my technologically illiterate self just spent all of twenty minutes trying to figure out how the heck to create this post.  Which is also probably because I refused to "take the tour."  Directions, schmirections.
I'm sure there is lot to update you on, dear blog.  None of which is quite to the standard of earth-shattering, so I'll save it for another day.  Like when my eyes aren't burning and tearing up, begging me to take my contacts out.
Promise not to be gone so long again!

Sometimes I just put together everything convenient and call it an outfit

Skirt: Ann Taylor, Shoes, Scarf, Shirt: Old Navy

Case in point: this is my Easter present from my sweet mommy. Actually we went shopping together and she let me pick it out. And P.S. I have to tell you that I got this scarf by pure happy accident for 47 cents. 47 cents. Holy junk. How could I pass up a chunky, tomato-colored, knit scarf for a price like that? My dad said it was terrible and he couldn't believe I had paid anything to haul it off for them. What does he know? It's a very happy little thing. Anywho, I threw on my three new pieces together, with a top knot and called it a day. End of story.

Happy Thursday to you!

I swear my brain always decides to take a massively heavy seat on its bum every time Monday rolls around. Thanks to the weekend being more stressful than restful, courtesy of a stinky appellate brief which was due today, this Monday was a particular booger. As is obvious by the serious run-onness that is that last sentence. And now comes time for a post. And I'm trying to come up with something to tell you guys besides the fact that I stayed up past my bedtime last night, over dosed on chocolate fondue and had a minor/major breakdown involving tears over the paper that had to make it to the endbox by 7:30 am this morning. Or what I had for lunch. Which I'm sure all of you would find entirely interesting. I asked Dusty for advice and he told me to post about his vegetadoodles (That would be our nerd word for vegetables. Weird, I know. Trust me it seems totally normal until you go to write it out.) So here is an update on those. The rain has been MIA here recently. The storm clouds however have given us a mighty tease. Rotten things. Anyway, lets hope for rain so that the onions will grow nice and big and we can make onion rings out of them. The end.

Happy Monday.

Today was far too sunny to be stuck in class

Confession. I am not a beach person. Not remotely. Saying such is like proclaiming to a group of vegetarians that you're craving a big, juicy steak when you live in Florida. But even this non-beach-loving, pasty white-legged, anti-Floridian Floridian craves the beach on a day like today. It probably has something to do with being stuck in a classroom with no windows for I can't name how many hours straight under a bazillion florescent lights which just sit there taunting you because you can't be outside absorbing real, live sunlight. So naturally, I wore an over-the-top sunhat and shades and daydreamed about how I would spend a day getaway to the coast. Most likely with some lemonade and a bottle of coconut-smelling sun lotion, painting my nails and watching my puppy dog play frizbee. Meh. Dear Anonymous (not so anonymous...Dusty, it's you), I'm putting in an order to be swept off of my feet on a skip day from class and work to the beach. I'll even pack the sandwiches. Thanks in advance.

Glasses...Brought to you by one of those mascara-free days

I realized this morning that I am one of those people who goes through a general process in the mornings trying to get dressed. I mean yes, some days a strike of creative lightening strikes and I'm Ms. Gotittagetha britches, but lets be honest, most mornings I stand there with a blank-eyed stare in front of my closet, thirty minutes before I'm scheduled to leave the house without a clue. Hence the 8-step process.

1. Check legs for prickliness. Negative on the skirt.

2. Decide whether or not there is time to iron anyting. Decide that who am I kidding? Not a chance I would iron anything if I did have time.

3. Approach the minimally wrinkled section of my wardrobe. Black pants. Check. Brush off the dog hair which somehow manages to land on every immobile (and some mobile) surface of my bedroom.

4. Take a break to go pack lunch.

5. Asses the weather situation for the day to determine whether layering would be within the remote realm of possibilities. Nope. Not unless I want to sweat my tush butt off. Option B: Button-up.

6. Throw on whatever gold jewelry I can get my hands on in about 10 seconds.

7. Hair in pony, concealer applied.

8. Decide I look like an 80-year old and add stacked sandals to ammend.

And the glasses round out the whole mascara-free bit and we're done. Oh and imagine the gracefulness of this process as I'm sleepy and grumpy, partially blind, and 80 percent uncoordinated. Ok, that's about right.

Happy Monday.

I tried making this stuff on my own for the first time last night and it is seriously so good. You know those mystery foods that just never grace you cart at the store until one day you try them and then you're like "whoa, why didn't I buy this all along?" Well that's me and hummus. (Tofu is still on the out list right now. But I'm inching closer.) Anywho, they charge a buttload for crushed up chickpeas (funnest word to say ever) at the grocery, so I decided to DIY. Especially since I'm about the only one who eats it. Dad says it tastes like mushed up trees and Dusty has never professed any sort of affection for it whatsoever. I was super proud of my fresh, healthy cart yesterday too. I felt like the cashier should have handed me a blue ribbon or something for responsible shopping (aka: after school with a snacky tummy). Maybe I'll put that one in the suggestion box.

Happy Hump Day y'all!

Ramsey
