I'm sitting here on the sofa. Where my bum has been planted since I walked in the door. After I took outfit pictures, of course. Not this outfit. This was Tuesday and I am just getting it posted. Motivation is clearly my motto this week. Especially today. Right. Because sitting in your school clothes now covered in dog hair because those boogies need some lovin', wanting a glass of water and a shower but too lazy to drag it off the couch sounds extra motivated. I have accomplished checking my school email, catching up on some long-overdue blogreading, and facebook stalking (I know, I stooped that low, you've done it on your bum days too.). Obviously a win for a Thursday. I'll probably hit up Pinterest next, just to make sure I've got all of the Constitutional Law, Federalist, Contracts mish mash out of my head and replaced with how to ice cupcakes and make paper heart bunting before I take it to the shower and throw on my yoga pants. Which I live in. Poor Dusty. By the time he gets off work and we see each other, I have already kissed goodby to any semblance of a decent outfit. popped on some black, stretchable, lovable goodness and look like I'm going to the gym. Only I am not, in fact, going to the gym. That's attractive. Which is why I have to post outfit pictures on here so that I can prove to him that I do get up and decently clothe myself every day. Next date night hun, I promise I'll get all dolled up just for you.

Happy February beauties! We have aparently already started our celebrating, as Dusty bought me a red, heart-covered stuffy and a heart-shaped box of chocolates last night. This is surely one of the best months. A 28-day long excuse to wear pink. And eat chocolate. Ok, maybe not the last one. Or maybe so.

Mondays are stinky. Because Ramsey has to go to that class place again, which means no buddy buddy for me all day. But at least she doesn't have to be there until 11. Which, I suppose of all evils really isn't that bad. Because she has time to get her reading and such done before class {squirrel} and pick out a decent outfit, and fix her ratty hair {hott mess I'm tellin' ya}. Ok, right, who am I kidding? She is really going to piddle around with crafts, fix breakfast, check her email, and then dash around the house {squirrel} at the last possible second, throwing her hair into a bun and grabbing her bag on the way out the door. She is such a procrastinator. Pssht. {squirrel} But at least I get a few more minutes to snooze on the rug before I have to go out for the day {ching!} and she gets to spend a few more minutes in her hiddeous pajamas {seriously, who wears fleece pants, a long-sleeved shirt, a robe, and a blanket when it's 70 plus degrees out?} before putting on something more presentable. And some makeup if we're lucky. Ok, I'm off to catch some zzzzzz's. This blog writing {squirrel} gig is exhausting. Peace out.

Where do the lost clothes go?

Have you ever experienced the phenomenon that is washing something only to have it get eaten up by some cotton-and-wool-loving monster who must certainly be hiding behind your washing machine? Or sometimes, and perhaps this is worse, you loose it just long enough for the current season to pass and then once the weather and your wardrobe have moved on to bigger and better things, there it is. The lost sweater that would doubtlessly have been put to good use had it been residing in your closet as opposed to some lint-ridden crevice in your laundry room. I think it has something to do with the urgency with which I conduct my laundry-washing duties. I would like to think of myself as an organized little Suzie homemaker who is always on top of her laundry and neatly folds it into perfect piles after it has air dried on the line and smells of sunshine and rainbows. Unfortunately, the only thing I know about being on top of laundry is sleeping on top of the laundry mountain that has taken up permanent residence on my bed. And I generally avoid said mountain until pigs fly or I run out of unders. The latter typically happens first. So there I go, streaking through the house (because it makes far more since to launder absolutely every piece of dirty laundry you own as opposed to leaving some for the next load) and heaving an armful of clothes into the washer in an act of sheer desperation. So naturally there are a few pieces who feel sorely mistreated by this lack of tender love and care and nestle into that unfortunate crack behind the washer/dryer/freezer and call it home. Maybe I should subscribe to Dusty's logic that you should never go to bed on New Year's Eve with so much as a stitch of dirty laundry, lest you be cursed with falling behind on said chore all the year through. Yep. That's probably my problem. Best of luck sniffing out those sweaters before spring hits.

Does anyone have a donut pan?

I have been surfing for party ideas for an upcoming shower and I have fallen in mad infatuation with the idea of baking homemade donuts. Ironically, I'm simultaniously trying to up my intake of the healthy and down the sugary sweet, greasy stuff. Surely if they are baked, they are not as bad as fried, no? I just think the possibilities of boxed cake mix-turned-donuts are wide open. As in awesome. Especially the possibility of apple cider donuts in 15 minutes. Cold weather makes me want to down a truckload of those suckers. Me and cake donuts are like this (insert twisted finger thingy)...cakey, just enough sweet, old-fashioned goodness. So there. Do any of you own one of these most miraculous contraptions? And while I'm asking questions, is it "donut" or "doughnut"? I've never been able to tease that one out. Dunkin' Donuts leaves out the unnecessary "ugh" so I'm going with that. Poop on toast, all of this donut/doughnut talk is making me want something sweet. And some milk. And a nap. You know what they say about giving a procrastinating law student a donut.

We fiiinally made it to Food Truck Thursday this week. And it was fantstic. At lease I though so. Basically a line of pimped out bread wagons selling gormet junk food. Ummm heavenly. I'm pretty sure Dusty was slightly less thrilled, but he took his Columbia-loving, boot-wearing self to the land of hipsters, cigarettes, and glasses five times the size of the face so that I could try chicken and waffles bought from a dude who looked like a Napolean Dynamite wanna-be. I know, he is a sweet pea. For the record, I think he enjoyed the chicken and waffles too. (Or at least he was nice enough to pretend he enjoyed it!) Hellllooo ultimate comfort food. And now I am all about finding a recipe to make homemade red velvet waffles. I may be obsessed.

I hope your week was positively wonderous! Happy Saturday. Ok, now I get to go endure my workout for the day loading three years-worth of college text books into my car to resell to the bookshop, or drop off on someone's doorstep. Or generally just get out of my room (the only part of this experience I'm looking forward to.) Happy day lovelies!

I completely meant to stop by earlier this week, but the forces were against me and it just wasn't happening. Monday, I took photos but they were overexposed. Tuesday, it rained on me as I walked from the building to my car. Mr. Weatherman clearly didn't have it together when he said it wasn't raining 'till evening. As I was walking out of the school with my friends, I was on the brink of commenting about how the stinking rain would conflict with my outfit pictures. But I caught myself. Fortunately, because that would have been awkward. Sometimes I forget that not all people take pictures of there clothes every day. Right. Oh, and I fell asleep on the couch at 6:00 last night, got up long enough to throw a load in the wash (which I didn't move and which soured) and then went back to bed. It's a crazy life I lead. Wild. But today, I was feeling super-motivated and not only did am I blogging, but I cleaned house this afternoon, nails are done, lunch is packed, laundry completed. Ok, well the last one is still in the works, but at least it is somewhere in the very promising middle stages. All that productivity has me flat worn out. To the point where I'm contemplating whether to bother with a shower or not. Totally kosher to go two days without, right? For the record, I'm kidding. I will shower. Tomorrow morning.

Thursday 8 am in the morning. I can tell this is going to be a fave. Not. Me and 8 am just don't jive. We had an angry, old-west stare down on Tuesday. 8 am won. Round 2 is on tomorrow and I gotta bring my A game. Which means...Stop. Blogging and get this stinker of a Legislation and Regulation (try saying that three times fast) reading done pronto.

Oh Florida you silly thing!

Yup, so this week we had a low of 18 and a high hitting almost 80. No need for so much as a jacket yesterday. I swear I don't think we've ever had such nuttiness as far as I recall.

Enough about the weather. I know, I tend to revert to small talk about weather whenever I don't know what to say. And I'm sure you are all thinking to yourselves how bad you wish you knew me in real life right now. We could sip hot beverages and chat about the weather all day long. I am going to be so good at being old by the time I get there.

Moving on. Tomorrow marks day one of semester two and I won't lie, I'm dreading it like the plague. To make matters better, I haven't gotten my books yet, so I get to go to school double early to spend some quality time in the library before class. BUT. In spite of all that pleasantness, let's focus on the fact that today is Sunday. And there is no school. And there is the promise of giving myself a manicure. And finally getting the pictures to hang their stinking little selves on my wall and NOT fall down. And picking out something fabulous {ideas, thoughts, inspiration, please?} to wear tomorrow. And going to the grocery to get some lunch-packing supplies. {I'm a freak who loves going to the grocery store, I know.} And we are going to watch Alice and Wonderland and take notes for helping plan my sissy's Matter Hatter-themed prom. And I am going to finally wash my overdue hair and give it a curl job. And I am going to pick out the most amazing stinking notebooks to make going to class this semester a little less painful.

Ok. I think that's enough counteracting goodness to make me feel a little better. Yay for Sundays, right? I hope yours is full of enough wonderous Sundayness to get you through Monday. Heck, I hope your Monday is wonderful too!

Hello sweet things. It is late. As in midnight, which is practically 4 am as far as I am concerned and my eyes reached the point of burning/contacts.must.remove.now./claw my eyeballs out about four hours ago. Why haven't I put my glasses on yet? Have you ever noticed how we do crazy junk like that? Like when I'm laying in bed awake, knowing I have to use the bathroom and completely unable to return to sleep, but refuse to get up until it reaches the point of now or wet the bed before I do anything about it. Yeah. Just like that. If you are not one of those people, please kindly keep your comments to yourself.

I've been in project mode for the last few days, as I decided it was time for my bedroom to receive an update. It was fine and all, but I was just craving some color. In my mind, winter should end and spring should begin as soon as the Christmas tree is boxed and put away. Bring on the lavender and flowers baby. And so in my room, it is now spring. As declared by me. And the flaming wad of color now covering my walls. Meh. That was covering my walls. I just heard a picture frame bite the dust in there. Should have bought the Command hangers after all. Here's hoping none of it will choose to take a tumble onto my sleeping head tonight. That's one point for the couch.

Okay, I'm going to go scrape the glued-on contacts from my eyes and survey the damage in the bedroom. But I'll leave you with this one dingy, terribly lit, wrinkly photo of the springing off point of the room. I'll show more when it's fully completed and you can wait your little buns with baited breath until that point rolls around.

Resolutions

I resolved not to make any resolutions this year, rationale being that I make them every year and all I'm left with come the end of January is a broken pile of promises and a guilty gut. And so I won't make any promises to get in shape or run every day or learn to cook something new or improve my {fill in the blank} skills. But I believe I will, in fact, weaken my resolve not to resolve. I have spent this Christmas holiday soaking in all of the goodness it has to offer. I haven't turned down plates of goodies, fires in the fireplace even if the weather is too hot to justify their existance, cup after cup of soul-soothing hot tea, kisses to furry puppy faces, staying up too late and going to bed too early, wearing yoga pants, opportunities to go shopping with mom instead of doing laundry, falling asleep on the sofa to the light of the Christmas tree, breakfasts with Mamaw and Aunt Essie, not setting an alarm, and an overall zeal for each day that, for me at least, is territory that has not been trod in the last few months. So my resolution of sorts is to allow the happiness...no, the joy...that has filled me from head to toe over the past few weeks to spill over into the post-holiday season. And to not feel guilty for taking time to "waste" on things that make me feel full and happy. Like a trip to Dollar Tree to spend 15 minutes debating whether to purchase a pack of colorful, striped pencils. Or a morning of coffee and muffins with all of the women of the family at our favorite local bakery. Because there is beauty in those simple moments that completely defies the pretty walls of productivity. I am comitting myself to time "well wasted" and to allowing myself to thoroughly enjoy the experience sans the usual side dish of guilt. Will I need reminding of this once the week after next rolls around and I'm back to the books plus one more class than last semester thrown in for good measure? Yes. And if you guys want to chime in and keep me accountable, chime away.

My uncle was in town visiting for Christmas last week, telling us of an trip he'd taken and he said something along the lines of, "usually you don't realize how great moments were until you look back later in life, but you know those times when you look around and actually realize how great of a time you're having while it's happening? That is truely an amazing feeling." And that part of the story stuck with me. Because that elated feeling of I'm so happy right now has been hovering around this season like a coat of morning fog and I'm not ready to let it go. I want to realize how wonderful a moment is when it's happening. I want to "waste" time being happy. So I learned how to make friendship bracelets with my sister last night and, for the record, we stink at it, but it was awesome. Plus we looked mighty gangsta in our awesome crotch-dangling pants, see below exhibit:

And I spent a good 30 minuts just browsing the aisles of my newest favorite dollar store for nothing in particular and spending the very thoughtful Christmas giftcard from my sister on new "office" organizing supplies. And I went to the movies with mom to see New Years Eve, which was the perfect, cheesy blend of funny, Cinderella story, and heartwarming tearjerker all wrapped up in a neat two-hour package and sprinkled with our favorite stars. And I am happy. Nestled right in the now.

I like the way you {egg} roll

Tonight we tried something new. And I, for one, feel like a hero because of it. We made homemade egg rolls. I can't take credit for the idea because it was Dusty's. He and his dad have grown enough cabbage this year to feed an army and he wanted to make some egg rolls out of it so by George, we did. I sorta didn't even know that that could be done but by geez, it can and we made rolls worthy of getting me a gig at our favorite take out Chinese joint. Ok, well maybe they were a little on the wonky side, but they tasted delicious and I'm sure that whole roll bit is the kind of thing that gets better with practice. And now I'm sitting on the couch, belly stuffed full of cabbage and fried dough, two empty mugs on the coffee table, a sleepy Dusty curled up on the couch beside me wearing my new Pillsbury Dough Boy jammie pants, and the sweet hum of a crackling fire in the fireplace. I'm pretty much convinced it doesn't get any nicer than this. Oh, and it dipped down to the thirties last night, so this fire is legit yo.

Mmmm, so the spring cleaning bug bit me early this year. Who am I kidding? It bit for the first time this year and I am all about taking advantage of it's poison. I've been tackling cabinets, drawers, and the fridge all day and labeled and boxed up everything but the dogs. I've got another day to go tomorrow, so here's to hoping the motivation will hang around for at least one more day.

Ok, so my eyelids are heavy and that toasty warm feeling is crawling up from my legs and wrapping itself around my shoulders. It's delightful. And I'm tired.

Christmas

We had a most fabulous Christmas this year. The temperature hit about 78 degrees, I wore my new "boots with the fur" that are suited for an Alaskan Adventure, we ate more calories than should ever be consumed in one day, and we napped. In fact, we only got off of our lazy bums to eat. That is how it's done guys. As you can see, our furry little ones were psyched about all of the Christmasing. They were mostly in it for the paper everywhere. I am stocked on photography supplies, faux fur, iPhone goodies, shoes, leggings, socks, and jackets. Now if the stinking weather would chill enough to put it all to good use!

Our plans for the day include a shopping trip to take advantage of $15 jeans for Dusty, ignoring the monstrosity that is my laundry pile for one more day, photo sesh, more leggings (stretchy=happy), and maybe a Christmas movie. We (and by we, I mean I) like to milk this stuff as looong as I can.

Oh yes, sneakers and sweat pants are where it's at. Besides the fact that my toes are permanently smooshed together from our shopping extravaganza on Monday, we had a most fabulous time. My mommy, sissy, Maddie of Sparkle and I piled into mom's tiny Infinity and headed to Jacksonville for the day to do some Christmas shopping. It should be noted by all of you that shopping at a fabulous new mall with all of your most fabulously favorite stores for other people is acutely challenging because you will most certainly wish to shop for yourself. I managed, but not without a few back-handed face slaps and "focus Ramsey's." Sometimes I split personalities when shopping. I'm sure that's totally normal. Urban Outfitters really brings out the best in people. I did squeeze in a few new {on sale...geez} lipsticks and bottles of polish from Ulta for me-self. One of which I am sporting now and is turquoise, minty fantasticness which would look lovely with a layer of gold sparkliness.

I'm pretty sure I'm finished with all of my Christmas shopping right now. Two whole days early. Two. We're talking some kind of record. Not to worry, I've already given myself a tremendous pat on the ole back. Ok, I may sneak back for a few more things, but that's a bit of a given.

Anywho, best of Christmas shopping luck for you last-minuters like me! Oooh, and I have a hot cocoa party to attend tonight {!!!} It's definitely Christmas.

I missed you

Humph. So the only pictures I have to post for you guys tonight are from mom's sweet Polar Express Party on Thursday. She teaches third grade and the whole school celebrated. I would say our classroom rocked the whole thing. But I'm not biased or anything. Here we are in our pajamas. I also wore these pajamas to the drug store to print pictures of each child (that I took looking stinking aaadorable in a Santa hat in front of the Christmas tree) for their parents' gifts. That wasn't awkward at all. Especially the girl who stopped me to say...after giving me two up-down stares..."I like............your hat." Righto lady. Jsyk this is totally my normal getup and I'm here every thursday thankyaverymuch. Oh, and mom is going to kill me for posting this picture with her eyes closed but it's all I've got so I'm taking that risk.

My station was s'mores. And it totally ruled. These kids seriously know what they are talking about when it comes to roasted marshmallows. Ok, sugar in general. The experience made me want to go campin for real.

I took a little blog break to get me through my exams without my head exploding. Victorious! Head is still intact. In other news, I finished finals. They stunk major. I'm almost finished with my Christmas shopping minus one more running-around day. My doggy ran away but we found him. (three days later after I had a heart attack) I will probably sleep on the couch again tonight for the 20th time this week (don't check my math on that) because my room currently looks like and episode of hoarders and I would have a mild anxiety attack if I tried to get some shut eye in there. I have been surviving for the past week plus on a diet of cookies and chocolate. FYI, that is a major shock to the body and is largely not recommended although I'm sure I've done Santa proud. I'm trying to wean myself off of sugar and back onto whole grains and vegetables so I can function like a normal human being. For some strange reason I just felt completely compelled to post this tonight. Even though I babysat and adorable munchkin until 11, thought I was done for the night and then came home, made homemade granola, and finished a counter-full of just-been-started Christmas crafts. And now it's 2:15. But the tree is surrounded by presents that were unfinished and unwrapped this afternoon...and THAT is something, my friends. Ok, my sore brain has nothing left to spout out right now and a furry puppy and warm blanky are calling my name. Or maybe that's just me hallucinating from exhaustion. Hope to talk to you guys again soon! We have lots of catching up to do!

Civil Procedure is the devil and I'm ready for Christmas vacation already

Hi. Errrm....I'm still here. I'm not sure if you though I forgot about you or not but I didn't. In fact, I think of you often little blog and soon, very soon, I hope to have lots of lovely, wonderous, happy little stories to share with you so that I can look back later and remember how joyous things were. But for now, there is this ginormous, green, scaled, flame-throwing Civil Proceedure exam breathing down my neck and scorching my un-combed hair and it needs my attention. Also, I really have no sweet stories to share other than the fact that I've been surviving on fires in the fireplace, cups of hot tea, leggings and sweaters, and baking and cooking breaks to keep me going. And sweet potatoes. Particularly sweet potatoes. I seriously could eat those suckers three times a day. I think it's my body screaming for carotinoids to counteract the inevitable atrophying of my eyesight from all of this mess. Anywho, I hope to have some more charming tidbits for you soon, sweet blog. Thanks for sticking with me through the stress and hair-pulling-out-ness. You are a doll.

Sometimes Florida throws a real wrench in things. Like a cold, rainy day in the midst of 70-80 degree sunny ones. Not that there's anything wrong with rainy, I just wish we had a little heads up before coldness like this rolls around. I'm pretty sure school should just be canceled alltogether when it rains. Days like these just go down better with a hot cup of apple cider. Which I believe I'll be helping myself to before too long.

Oh, and guys, we've started decorating for Christmas! Can you believe it's almost that time of year again? I'm pretty much psyched! Christmas is my favorite. Now all I need is a date with Elf and someone to narrow down my 59247528745 item long list of gifts to make from Pinterest for me. I may have been a little over ambitious with my idea saving. Just a tad. But you can just come over for craft night and make them for me. I'll provide s'mores and cocoa. Who's with me?

1. Cook, cook, cook. Pumpkin bread pudding, Green Beans and Craisins, Mashed potatoes. My minor contributions to dinner that must get whipped up tomorrow.

2. Watch Twilight in theaters with mom. You know you went to see it too. Guilty ones.

3. Cook delicious sauce and spaghetti squash for dinner. I've never experimented with these, but that sucker looks like quite the adventure.

4. Pack flannel shirts, jeans, and as many pairs of leggings as I can get into a duffle for the lake.

5. Stretch my stomach for dinner tomorrow and a weekend of munching.

6. Remind Dusty to pack firewood, frying oil, and hugs for the trip.

7. Go for a walk right now and gobble up the last little bit of this fabulous weather we've had today.

I'm pretty sure I post about the weather entirely too much. It's either this or books. I'm just going to go ahead and pick your poison for you. Weather. The only books I read enough to discuss are too torturous for your sweet little eyes. This post is nostalgic. This outfit was on Friday, which was cold and fallish. And today is hot, humid and sticky. Blech! And I'm wearing a sweater. And tights. And plus I took the time to curl my hair this morning and the weather totally ruined it! Stink on you, weather. Stink. On. You. It's an "I need ice cream" sort of a day. Fortunately I know that there is a nice, big tub of Whoopers ice cream waiting for me to engulf {ladylike?} later tonight. Plus I'll make Dusty eat some too so I don't feel like such a pig. Food therapy is not recommended, but extremely effective. Don't try this at home.

Sometimes I get tired of wearing contacts so I wear my nerd glasses. Mostly because I wear my contacts for 34972894 billion hours at a time and they get all stuck to my eyes and turn them red and burny. I have seriously got to come up with a way to stop reading books and staring at computer screens so much. Books on tape? I've got no solution to the computer though. What are the guidelines for going to bed at 8:00 pm on a Tuesday? I'm up for judgment if it means I can get in a few extra hours. Mmmm sleep. I may also sneak in a fun sized Snickers bar {that Dusty got in all of his sweetness for me last night. Despite evidence to the contrary, chocolate does heal.} as a nightcap before I pass out.

And I will probably read this post later and laugh at my deliriousness in writing it. Bah.

Yup, so not much to say about these except for I'll probably be whining about exams for the next few weeks. Because they are fast approaching and these books have become both my lifelines and my personal nightmares all at once.

Today was a misty, gloomy sort of a day. Perfect for hot cocoa and fires in fireplaces. And marshmallows. Those make everything lovely. I kind of like weather like this in some strange little way. It makes me want to bake something. I'm going with pumpkin muffins. Mostly because I found a recipe on Pinterest (aka: the devil) that only includes a box of cake mix and a 15 oz can of pumpkin. I'm having a hard time believing it'll work, but I'll let you know if I'm converted into a believer. Next up, a can of sweetened condensed milk covered in water in a crock pot overnight (8 hours) makes caramel. This whole Pinterest deal seems to be introducing me to the world of cooking magic. You can call me Houdini.

Yup, so we tried our hand at being Greek this weekend. Aaaannd that was kind of a fail. For one, we're not much to speak of in the field of song and dance, but more importantly, we got there after the gyros ran out. And it was quite the Greek tragedy. {That was one of the cheesiest puns I have ever stooped so low as to use, but I've never been able to make a pun out of that before. So there. And don't say you wouldn't have done it either.} We ended up with pork on a stick {there was a very Greek name for this and I have no clue as to what that name might be} and Greek fries. Which are kind of like American fries. But with more garlic. And the sauce was really good.

After our cultural experience for the weekend, we went to Wal-Mart. Wouldn't want to act too refined or anything. I mean it was Saturday after all. And if you see us on "People of Wal-Mart" running around acting like children with a cart filled with banana split-making supplies and a turkey {?} you have my permission to pretend that you don't know us.

Today was a cumbersome day. Galumphing, incommodious, clunker. I googled those. I don't even know how to pronounce the second one but I'm too lazy to google the pronunciation right now. I don't know what came over my coordinatedness today. Actually, it was probably a combination of the scarf, heels, jacket, skirt, and 5324234179 bags that I insisted on carrying around all day. Clearly I overestimated my ability to juggle. Shucks, there goes my dream of running off and joining the traveling circus. I had three near misses and managed not to spill, drop, or rip anything, which ammounts to a small personal victory for me. But you can still bet your bums I'll be wearing flats tomorrow and keeping both heels planted firmly on the ground. I don't want to press my luck or anything. Oh, and incase you were wondering, the weather was amazing enough to wear the scarf and jacket alllll day. Oh fall, I love you. If you were a kissable thing, I'd kiss you right on the face. "Mmmuchwa!" {P.S. This scarf is double amazing because it is so fluffy-stuffy you could fall asleep sitting up and your neck wouldn't move. That makes it even more awesome than the one I had a ~~mini stomp fit~~ very adult-like "humphff" over not being able to find this morning.}

11-1-11. Don't ya just love dates like this? Better yet? 11-11-11 is just around the corner. And it's Dusty's birthday!!! I think it's going to be a particularly good day because that just has to mean luck or something like it, right?

Above are some {reeeealllyyy really bad} Halloween pictures. It was all after dark and there was no one around to photograph our costumes, so there you go. Poops. Anywho, you get the general idea. Aaand I really have no excuses.

Final thing on the agenda. This week is shaping up to look awefully nuts. Bad nuts. So if I'm not able to post as regular, do pardon. I'll be parking my rear-hind in the library for the next two afternoons doing reasearch after class. Whoo. It should go super smooth though, because our professor spent 50 minutes today walking us through an exercise that was supposed to be helpful but ended up sounding more like Charlie Brown's teacher. Wha-whaaaa-wha-whaaaa-wha-whaaa. Right. Got it. Just give me ten more years of legal reasearch work under my belt and we will completely be on the same page.

Halloween Partying

Do you guys have fabulous Halloweening to do this weekend? I can't help it, I'm a downright sucker for individually wrapped candy and sugar hangovers. I worked relentlessly {like two whole afternoons} on my costume and I'm super psyched about it. I dressed up as a harloquin. I think that's how you spell that. It's like a French clown. Or something like that. Anywho, I paired it with a mini top hat {made from a plastic solo cup} and that....is the bestest part. We had our Halloween party last night for the law students and I completely wish I had more photo documentation because these people bewildered my little mind with their creativity. We had a Wall-e made from a cardboard box, Mahem from the Allstate commercial, a flawless rendition of the Chick-fil-a cow (who pulled some dance moves I've never before witnessed), an Iron man costume made from drink boxes, and any number of costumes I can't even think of to mention. Best people-watching ever.

I am dE-termined to make it to the corn maze and pumpkin patch this weekend. I can't let Halloween get away without that. Notta chance. So, do share. I want to hear all about your costumes and Halloween plans pronto!

These little puppies caused quite a stir the other day. Who woulda thunk people were so prone to notice shoelaces? I just thought this outfit needed a little jam. Plus my nails were already painted neon. So naturally, I had to have neon shoelaces to match.

Mmmm....so my brain is a little sleepy. And I just misspelled sleepy like three times. And probably about a gazillion other words in this post. Could someone please tell me why the hours between three and eleven are half as long as the hours between eight and three? Because I'm pretty sure I sat in class for 120 minutes for Torts today and I'm also sure it was 9:00 about thirty minutes ago. I tell you what. I'm going to go hunt down this time thief and show that booger who's boss. Right after I shower. And take an eight {seven} hour nap. Right.

We have a ridiculous amount of time in between our two Wednesday classes. As in four hours of ridiculousness to blow between Civil Proceedure and Property. This time is normally well wasted with a nice lunch break somewhere around town. Well, this week, we decided to step outside the proverbial box and take a field trip to Bradley's Country Store which literally exists in the middle of nowhere. So we all piled into a car and drove out to said middle of nowhere to the little wooden building, which is in every sense a country store. And ate sausage dogs. Anywho, this is a nice story and all that jazz, but the best part is the weather. You see, we planned the trip because Wednesday was predicted to be perfect, crisp, clear, fall weather. Right then. Turns out Wednesday was more artic than fallish because the sun did not show it's pretty little face until approximately 30 minutes after our return from lunch. It was windy and I'm pretty sure there may have been a little snow. {Ok, there wasn't really snow, but it was reeeealllly cold considering it got up to 90 last week and it hadn't reached 70 by lunch.} I clearly wasn't dressed for this kind of weather and I froze my buns off. Oh and there were really cute goats. Hence the title. And the random pictures with said goats. And now I kinda want a pet goat. Rational? Hmmmm....maybe not.

I like my candy corn stale

Anyone else? Dusty bought a meganormous bag of individually-wrapped candy corn packets and has been sending them to school with me. So naturally, I've been giving an inordinate amount of thought to candy corn lately. That and it's really starting to feel like fall now. So anyway, I'm pretty sure those little morsels of sugary goodness are sufficiently better when allowed to.....mature for a bit out in open air to lose some of their softness. I like when they have a little bite to them. Plus I eat candy corn{s?} in sections. White. Orange. Yellow. That is totally normal, right? And it's easier to section them out once they've gotten some crustiness to the outside. Also nice? Chilled candy corn. It has generally the same effect. So, lessons learned: If you have time, space, and the ability to "air out" or chill your candy corn without having it stolen or eaten out from under you, do give it a try. I recommend at least a day of airage. You can come back to share your reviews later.

Do you ever have those days where your brain just takes a little joyride and you're stuck there {brainless} still trying to function? Geez, I'm about sure my mind has aged about 60 years in the past few weeks because it is ssss-sslipping as we speak. I am a routine person. Wake up. Bathroom. Makeup on. Clothes on. Go to bed. Bathroom. Makeup off. Clothes off. Similar. But three time in the past week. Not kidding you. Three. I have been in the midst of said activities and started to question whether it was morning or night. Once in the shower. Once in the bathroom. Once while washing my face. I'm 5% sure it has to do with some sort of alien abduction. And 95% sure I'm not getting enough sleep. Which is funny. Because I'm pretty sure my days look a little like read, eat, read, read, read, eat, listen, read, sleep, sleep. Two outta ten ain't bad. Hopefully I'll make it back in for a blog tomorrow. Do you know how miserable it is sitting in hard chairs all day with no buns? Oh, the joys of college life. Anywho, I know this outfit was highly impractical, given the weather conditions today, but I just couldn't pass it up after I had taken the time to pick it out and paint my nails to match. {Manhattan by NYC if you were wondering...I'm sure you would have lost sleep over that tonight otherwise...right. Or not. I'm pretty much just trying to kid myself into staying up later because this little 80-year-old ain't having it with staying up late. I'm thinking we "make an appearance" {I've always hated that phrase, but I'm coming to see some usefulness in it right now} and then bail back to our pillows for some shut-eye. 10 PM on a Thursday? Thank goodness that sucker is anonymous because I'm shakin' in my boots. We get one "cheat sheet" to keep our heads on straight. So if my noggin looks a little crooked tomorrow, well, it's best just not to ask questions. How many more days until weekend again? Whew. Maybe after tomorrow the climb will be downhill. Lets just hope my bootay muscles hold up long enough to get me back down without falling over and rolling the whole way. Or not. I'll take the fall-and-roll way out too. For now, I think it would be safer just to take pictures beside horse pens. Yes, yes, that would make me look for more sane. And you know what they say. Well, actually, I got nothin'. Speaking of 90s, albeit a different aspect of the 90s, we are going to a country music concert on Thursday night and I am a bubble of excitement over here!! Fo real guys. Oh, and our method of travel to said concert will be to pile everyone into a suburban and drive like a can of sardines. And anything involving sardine cans is a winner with me. Best part? That's not to mention the utter frigidness of my classrooms because apparently the staff has no regard for those of us with -.1 tolerance for coldness. But that's neither here nor there. This weekend was delicious. In both the foodie way because I ate so much that I think I could go sans food for two days based on what I surely have in reserve and the atmosphere way. There was major fallness in the air and it could not have been better. We had a bonfire on Saturday night, watched football, bought a mum, received a pumpkin, and spent Sunday in pajamas under a blanket. I even had a mug of hot cocoa today. If that doesn't make it legit fall, well then, I don't know what does.

Cookie baking with the girls on Wednesday, acting like a 7-year-old at Fun Station last night, football cookout tomorrow. I think I need a nap. You should take one two. Officially the. Shortest. Weekend. Ever. I think it is the impeding realization that I have my first memo due on Friday. Twelve pages. Right then. I'll just go bang those out. On top of that, my upper lip decided to be just lovely today and swell to twice its size on the left side with a blemish. Awesome. And you can't cover that one up with a hair-in-the-face-do either. I decided glasses and a massive bow on my head might detract the attention a bit. I must take a moment to brag though. I warned Dusty that my horns would be coming out this week with all the work I have to do. {horns=those mean-looking things that pop out of the sides of my head when I stress} He responded by packing me lunch to pick up on the way to class this morning, complete with pumpkin Little Debbie treats and "I love you" on the baggies. Cue the awwwwwwww. And on top of that, he insisted on helping me with my laundry. Really insisted. I know, I know. How could I ever complain about anything after that. Love him!

I got asked in class yesterday when fall gets here. Prompt response: the leaves turn for about a day or two in November, but pay attention, else you might miss it. I'll admit, this whole nice in the morning, hot by noon is quite the tease. And every now and then, Tallahassee will throw a cool day in there just to wag a finger at us. Dear October, will you bring in some yellow and orange to us please? If not, well, I'll just pretend. I'm talkin' hot cocoa, apple cider, cinnamon candles, candied apples, pumpkin Little Debbies, turnin' down the AC and wrapping a fuzzy scarf around my neck, and strutin' the boots like nobody's business. So. I knew it was going to rain today. But yesterday, in all of my preparedness with boots and trench coat and umbrella, it didn't shed a drop. So I suppose I thought I'd wag my finger at it and let. me. tell. you. that weather showed me. I got to campus this morning amid the mad traffic rush and had an emergency gotta go right now bathroom attack. Yup, my bladder can't even make it the whole commute to class. So I'm downright squirming through the last few redlights, murmering to myself in some incomprehensible language and no doubt terrifying the passengers in cars beside me. By the time I made it to the parking lot, I bolted it from the car. Dirt lot, steep hill, rain. Fun. I'm sure I was quite the sight making my way to the law building, my wobbly, high-heeled legs trying their best to cross and hold it all in. Of course, I couldn't hold myself because (1) My hands were filled with ginormous law books (2) I was trying to hold the umbrella over my head and (3) I'm pretty sure that gesture is socially inappropriate at my age. Sometimes the temptation to revert back to toddlerhood is just too strong. Needless to say, my suede heels could use a little lovin' right now. Any ideas for cleaning those puppies up?

The story of two really bad tailgaters

So, Saturday. We decided, or rather I decided, that we were going to give the whole tailgating thing a go. After four and a half years of dating, in which we (my football lourvinnnggg beau and I) have never been. Not once. Naturally we choose one of the biggest games of the season. Because go big or go home is kinda our style. Right. And in this case, we ended up doing option B. Point A: the law school. We find that everyone has tuckered out due to the fact that they started at approximately 9am for an 8pm game. Point B: tent city. We stand in line for approximately 209437255 billion minutes for Dusty to use the potty and decide we are definitely in lot 14 (wrong lot), not lot 9 (right lot). Point C: we ask a stranger because there is zero phone service to look up a map of tailgating lots, amid mass chaos in the miagration of the crowd to the stadium (three hours to game time{??}) and are directed to lot 8. I lose it on the way to lot 8 (which, turns out, was fortunate because lot 8 is NOwhere near lot 9) and turn into a five-year-old, "imahottiredhungrysweatywantsomewingsandanapwouldbegood." Dusty is happy to oblige because we are missing his team's game to be there in the first place. We ended up falling asleep at half-time, bellies stuffed with hot wings and fries, on the couch. Lessons learned: We are officially 20-something going on 80, Dusty probably shouldn't wear the archrival's shirt when tailgating, people our age officially stink at the food part of the tailgate...store bought does not = adequate tailgate food, when you get that many 20-somethings together in one place, cell phone towers shut down, Wingstop fries are so boss, football naps really are the best.

Or whenever that was we learned about primary colors. {aparently this is trending with me because today I wore colored shoelaces in my boots(?)} I even painted my nails green to go with the whole basic color scheme. Plus leopard. Because that is practically a primary these days. In my mind. Don't judge. P.S. it pretty much took a whole hour to come up with red, blue, and yellow items from my closet. Somebody needs to break out of her neutral bubble. Today I mixed neon with my black and gray. Living on the edge. This whole law school thing has me feelin' riskay. The art of carrying books while wearing heels

#1 This is what I wear when I don't wear heels.

#2 If one does wear heels, one must learn important adaptation tactics so that one does not bust one's buttox. It is always generally adviseable to test heels at home first for height. Trot around the house a few times just to be safe. Now add books. Caution: your balance will be considerably compromised from said weightage. Start small. Do not go for the gusto on your first attempt. Again, despite your {unreasonable} thinking, you will not be balances once books are added to the equation. However. Try to balance equal numbers of books, etc. on both sides. This promotes equillibrium. Or something like that. But equillibrium sounds smart. Carry band-aids incase you bite the dust. Hindsight is 20-20 on this one. If said bitage occurs, get up quickly, brush your bummage and scurry away from the scene of the accident. If all else fails, revert back to flats.

I got a little jump start on the list this weekend with the trench and chukkas. And the cool weather from last, week which spoiled me so, is now gone. So in effort to tell fall to hurry up and get here already, I present my fall list. Oh the deliciousness.
1. Something red. Hott red. With two t's. Hott red bottoms means hott red bums.
2. More leopard. Goodness, I can't get enough of this! I'm thinking shoes right now, but I wouldn't say no to a shirt if it looked at me sweetly and asked, "pretty please."
3. Glorious riding boots. It's a wish list right? In my wishes they would be gorgeous leather with vintage-looking brass buttons all the way up the side.
4. Something mustard. Like a pencil skirt. But in a woolly fabric that just smells like fall. Yes, I associate color with smell. I think that must say something about me.
5. Polka dots. Any color. Any size. I'm reverting back to kindergarten and geometrics are boss.
6. A school boy blazer. Or just a blue blazer that I can replace the buttons on and pretend it's a school boy blazer. They look so smart. I think it would definitely make me smarter. Or look smarter. Which practically mean the same thing.
7. A fur vest. I had a run-in with a lovely one the other day in Dillard's. And drooled on it a little bit. And petted it softly. We've been daydreaming of each other since.
8. More color. Deep, royal, jewelish color that says, "I am a big girl and I know exactly what I'm talking about." Purple is authoritative.

1. I wore this jacket all day without breaking a sweat.
2. Boots, boots, boots. I have my eyes on some dessert booties right now. Heeled ones, flat ones, wedge ones? I'm undecided. But I will certainly have a pair before the season is up. Fall throws my self control against shopping out the window apparently.
3. Trench coats. They are everywhere and I am digging it. Classic, versitile, in. Love. Another item on my wish list. And I do literally have a list.
4. We ate soup tonight. With oyster crackers. Geez, I haven't had any of those yummies in a while. I had to buy them because the box had a picture of the crackers with a pearl between them with the caption of "the world is your oyster cracker." I would like to high-five the person who came up with that.
5. We went for a crispy little walk tonight and it was delicious.
6. There is a cornmaze across the street and Dusty promises we will give it a shot. It is so on.
7. I'm really craving something appley right now. Or maybe some hot cocoa. Premature? Maybe. But I fully intend to milk this cool weather for all it's worth.
8. Riding with the windows down. Nuff stated.
9. Pumpkin spice beverages are back. And I fully intend to challenge myself to drink as many as possible between now and the time they go out of season. Wha-ching.
10. College football. It's awesomeness. It's a light at the end of the tunnel every week. It's like the best entertainment ever.

How do I do the "bump hair" and the big bun?

Tease, tease, tease. And don't be afraid to tease some more. The bun: Put your hair in a nice, high and tight pony and spray down those little fly-aways with your fave hairspray. Now tease the pony in sections until it is mega big and wrap it into a bun. Pin with bobbies and spray. It's that easy. Which is why it's my go-to for dirty hair days when I have approximately zero minutes to get ready. The Bump: Start teasing at the crown and go at it until you look like the instructor from an 80s work out video. Make sure to leave the front ear-to-ear section smooth. Now pin it half back and wrap the long part into a bun. Add a headband if you'd like!

Am I engaged?

Nope, but if i was, you'd be among the first to know. And the blog would probably be flooded with wedding planning goodness.

How many outfits do I try on in the morning or do I pick out the night before?

Usually the night before. If I'm lucky. If not, it usually starts with one piece that I know I'm going to wear and then I kind of build from that. Sounds organized, but I assure you the process is appropriately messy. AKA, "who threw clothes all over my room?"

How do I describe my style?

Hmmm. J.Crew wanna-be? Preppy but with a little twist probably.

What are my fave places to shop?

F21, Old Navy, Gap, Plato's Closet. Wherever I can get cute clothes within my teeny budget. It's not so much about where you get the clothes. More about knowing how to style them. I love the quote my mom gave me, "someone with true style doesn't need labels to pull it together."

What are my wardrobe essentials and what do I consider to be wardrobe essentials in general?

My denim shirt. I wear it all the time and with everything. It is my go-to for those days when wardrobe inspiration escapes me. Actually button-ups in general are the most versitile items you can add to your closet. Wear 'em over, wear 'em under. Wear 'em 'till your man asks if you actually own anything other than button-ups any more. Then wear a hott little black dress to remind him that you do, in fact. ;) Cute jackets and otherwise layerable clothes. Layers have a way of making things just look pulled-together. I promise, learning the art can take an ordinary outfit to catalogue-worthy. Like Baaaammm! Heels. Also look good on everyone. They make your legs look longer, your rear look perkier, and they instantly add class to an outfit. Skinnies? Check. Skirts? Check. Shorts? Check. Really, try it. You will add elegance to ya-self and put that little "I know I'm hott and Immona strutt it." in your step. Yes, you can fit that much into a step.

What do I believe?

I am Christian and I believe in the Bible. I was raised in a small-town, Southern Methodist church. We partake in worship, prayer, and delicious pot lucks with more food than you could shake a stick at. ;)

Haha...I haven't seen that one in a while, but yes and no. It's not as dramatic. But yes, they do call on you and drill you just like that. I suppose all law schools are different.

Ok, so quick story first. It's not a story really, but I had to tell you because it made me all smiley inside. Last night, Dusty brought over a bag of goodies that he picked up on the way home from work to congratulate me on my first week back to school and to help me through the rest of the semester. He's a clever one, that one. Twizzlers and gum to chew on while I work. A whole loot of Sharpie pens in every color. {I'm embarrasingly psyched to try these! I have a hangover affair with colored markers since kindergarten.} All of the colors of highlighters + the kind of highlighters that have post-its on the end to mark pages. Like whoa. Who even know there was an incredible genious who dreamed up such a thing? And last but not least, two bottles of nail polish in the brand I've been wanting to try but haven't. I guess someone does listen to all of my mindless rambling after all. I underestimate that guy sometimes.

Tomorrow marks the end of what has perhaps become the longest week ever. {insert best football "whoop-whoop's" and other rowdy noises here} I am pooped. When I have a particularly tiring or otherwise stressful day, I tend to buy nail polish. To cheer myself up, of course. Don't judge me. I have a feeling my collection is going to expand monumentally this year. Anywho, yesterday, I ended up {After about 15 minutes of mindless searching and tedious deliberation because I was so unequivocally braindamaged at that point after reading and note taking all day that I couldn't bring myself to a decision. With the Walgreens cashier watching me the whole time because I was apparently the ooonly one in the store.} going with this one. Unicorn yellow. If that's not a happy color, well then I don't know what is. I also took a mild nap and shared a huge plate of fried seafood with Dusty for dinner. Therapy at its finest. We were even so rejuvinated, we had a completely stimulating discussion over court cases, laws, and public policy after dinner. Nail polish+nap+fried food. Equals. I've been singing Michael Jackson to myself all day. And to Dusty. He extra appreciates my MJ singing abilities. And now he has an appreciation for what goes into getting dressed every day. We just picked out my clothes for tomorrow. It took about three rounds and a second opinion, but we did it. He's napping on the couch beside me right now. Poor thing. It is a bit exhausting.

My second point. Law school really reverts you back to highschool. For real like. We have lockers, we all carry around large bookbags, and we eat our sack lunches in the "cafeteria area." It's rather cute. Except for the abundance of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches on campus at lunch time. Don't get me wrong, a PB and J has it's place, but I'm suffering through a bit of a headcold and that is the only thing I can smell. It also appears to be the only thing all the poor law students in my section know how to make. Seriously. I sat through a peanut-buttery lunch break that about did me in, then walked into class and guess what the gent beside me whips out? Really. If I have to sit beside one more PB and J eater, I'm not sure I can quite control myself.

Today was the first day. I guess the cat is out of the bag. The proverbial cat. Because it would be cruel to place a real cat in a bag. In fact, I wouldn't even have a cat to start with because I'm allergic to cats. Besides that, today was the first day. And of course we know {the mouse in my pocket and I} that there is no better way to prepare for your first day of anything than your old faithful, favorite, gets better with every wash denim shirt and a pair of Ann Taylor pants. Because what doesn't go down smoother with Ann Taylor pants? I'm still alive on the flip side. Just came up from briefing cases for a little air. Actually, I'm taking notes on the pages of the book that were photographed with a camera phone and sent to my email. Sad, but I'd rather be prepared than face another wet my pants {pardon the expression} experience like today. I got called on in the one class that I cannot seem to obtain the book for, despite my continuing efforts {continuing=daily trips to the bookstore to beg for them to get it in soon with pathetic puppy eyes and sob stories}. You know that scene from Legally Blonde where she's completely unprepared? Yeah, I felt like that. I winged an answer with the help of an iPad and a 15-minute in-class brief of the case during the syllabus-explaining session. Whew. First one called on. First day of class. At least I left the room with my dignity intact. And dry pants.

Wedding Shower and the Monster Book of Monsters

So, I haven't a cool story to share with y'all about why I've been completely MIA this week. Honestly, I've been overwhelmed with the load of responsibilities that I have self-dumped in my own lap to take care of and unfortunately, they have caused me to pack up the blog in a nice (bubble wrap-padded, of course) little box and place it in the backseat of my Honda Accord. Litterally. In the form of my computer. And ya know what, the whole thing has made me right sad. I've been thinking about you guys and missing your sweet words and weird stories. And so it stands, I really like you as friends. Really, really. As they say, absence makes the heart grow fonder. So here I sit. With my ratty, third-day {+} hair in tangles, glasses on the tip of my nose, still wearing my pajamas, nails unpainted, with my stack of textbooks sitting in the corner, gnashing their angry teeth in my direction, nagging me about reading for (tomorrow's!!!) approaching classes, looking more and more like the Monster Book of Monsters {fellow nerds, catch the Harry Potter reference. Gotta represent.} by the second. Blogging pictures of the bridal shower we threw yesterday as evidence of the fact that I have been working away at something. Me and mommy crafted all of the graphics and most of the yummies, logging many man (lady?) hours on the job, with a big scoop of help from our lovely, flower-talented friend, Mrs. Amy. I hope these will suffice. Until tomorrow. When I do, in fact, have to get dressed. And will hopefully photo-document the occasion for you all.

Oh and one last bit, these aren't remotely edited. Just pretend they look like they came out of Southern Living for me. K?

The case of Dusty and the onsie

There are just certain clothes that men hate and women love. Case in point. The romper. Built for comfort, built for speed, built with a massive case of the grandma butt. After much cajoling one day, Dusty admitted to me his distaste for the romper. He said it reminds him of a onsie. And a grown person in the equivalent of a onsie is apparently far too much to swallow. I say I'm outdoing myself by actually getting dressed today, onsie or not. As opposed to the yoga pant episode from yesterday, I'm quite impressed with myself. I suppose it had a bit to do with the discovery I made while putting on my workout clothes this morning. It appears I have been showering too late as of recent. With my eyes shut. In the dark. Half asleep. When the hair on your legs and under your arms is long enough to notice, it's time to give yourself a shower, shave, put on some makeup and your best onsie and take yourself out to run errands.

Don't fret if you don't see me here tomorrow. I have orientation and a whole pile of other things to do and I may not be able to drop by. If that's the case, you can feel free to come back and read this post again. I promise hearing about my under arm hair is just as interesting the second time.

1. I am thankful that my office was cool enough to allow me to wear this outfit and pretend it was fall all day on Friday. {By the way, pretending it's fall does not make it cooler outside. :(}

2. I am thankful for flat shoes. Like these. And my Sperry's. And my Keds. Even though they make my feet so stinky I can barely stand to be around myself.

3. I am thankful to have made it through my first wedding photography experience with my head still {for the most part} attached. And to have learned some valuable lessons along the way.

4. I am thankful for Tervis tumblers and a constant supply of iceeeay H2O all day long.

5. I am thankful that my bathroom is only about 15 steps away right now because...see above. And I have a bladder the size of a pistachio.

6. I am thankful for the four-legged, furry ball that is sleeping beside me and keeping me company as I edit my insides out.

7. I am thankful for a party to plan this weekend. And another excuse for procrastination.

8. I am thankful that I have tomorrow to do my reading before orientation. Even though I will probably wait until Wednesday morning.

9. I am thankful for the wonderful goodness that is Nutella. It's like Ferrero Rocher on a spoon.

10. I am thankful for yoga pants because they are like a warm, soft hug for your bum. And I'm thankful for long-sleeved tees to go with them. And the fact that I get chilled enough to wear their little selves all year 'round.

The peas to my carrots

Last night, as I was putting an {extremely delicious, homemade. (homemade=only one part explicitly came from a box)} dinner together for Dusty and me-self, I had the brilliant idea to kill some time playing around with some different lenses and my ring. Ya know, just for practice in using my creative license. I won't bore you with the details of that little adventure. {Because I'd probably break into tears recounting it.} I'll just say that I thought my camera was broken. My baby. My sweet little baby that I have been shooting with for a month. Broken on Thursday with a wedding on Friday. Dusty called. I held my junk together. And I acted like an adult. And I patted myself on the back for said responsibility. And then Dusty walked in the door. And I. Lost. It. Not like a sweet, sobbing maiden. Like an incomprehensible ohmygoshmycameradinnerbestwhatamIgonnadobuySaturdayThursdaywedding. All between muttering similar concerns to the Best Buy lady on the other end of the phone. One second it was "baby, I'm home, how are you." and the next, I was a little puddle on the floor gasping for breath to explain my problem to the Best Buy lady who I half forgot I was on the phone with while Dusty tried to console me. When I finally established that they {BB} could do nothing at the moment, all the while pacing the floor and casting nervous glances back at my camera bag, I returned to Dusty, teary-eyed and sweating. And guess what. He had fixed it. He snapped that little piece right back in and explained that the "scratched" part played no role in the image quality. And then he hugged me and told me that everything was ok. And that was the best part. He is the peas to my carrots. When I fall apart. He picks up the pieces and puts them back together. And then he tells me it's ok to cry over silly things. And go shopping to make myself feel better. And burn the bread. And he does it with a smile.

I know I gotst lots of haters out there. But sometimes nothing is better than a good ole Walmart run. Sure, sure, I love supporting local businesses. I could jump on etsy like white on rice. I adore my local farmer's market. I would love nothing more than to spend every weekday morning perusing local antique stores and boutiques. I {heart} the locals. But then sometimes, real life sets in and you need to buy composition books, business supplies, dinner ingredients and some form of entertainment. At 7:00 at night. And that is when I become a Walmart girl. A one stop shop. And we walked out with 18 notebooks, a jar of pasta sauce, noodles, bread, broccoli, and a couple of movies just for good measure. Call me lazy. Call Walmart the spawn of the devil. But I just called it a night and we happily {and histerically} watched the Proposal. Which, by the way, happens to be one of the funniest movies eva. And I'm quite sure our bums have drastically shrunk in size due to laughing them off for two hours.

Best be off. I must return to the books for some pre-school learning and some photo-studying. Guess which one is more fun.

Gawsh...one word and now I'll have a Beatles song stuck in my head all day.

Regardless. This is what I did all day: Editing, posting, blogging, making lists. Photography stuff. This also means that my only co-workers were furry and four-legged. Which finally, in turn, means I wore sweats, no makeup and glasses all. day. long. I could show you a picture of my stained, smelly t-shirt and un-polished nails if you would like, but I have an inclination to believe you'd be less that impressed. Instead, I'll leave you with this beautiful couple that I photographed post-wedding bridals for this weekend. We'll call it an extra pretty dry run for my {very first solo!!!} wedding this weekend. Holy wowzers. I just said {wrote?} that! The jitterbugs are having a dance party in my tummy. I'm sooooo excited! Ok, I think I aggrivated spell check with all of those exclamation points. {!} Better wishes for me actually getting dressed today, but first I'm off for a nice walk with my wet-kissing, four-legged co-worker. It's rumored to be a bit cooler than the usual scalding this morning and I'm quite looking forward to it.

Oh, and if you know where I can get a car like this to keep, pray tell me where that might be and I'll notify Santa. It's never too early to start your Christmas wishlist.

Funny thing about them. They tend to be pleasurable so long as they are not required reading. Then, the moment someone hands out a list of page numbers to read and ponder over, it becomes a job. I always say at the beginning of summer vacation that I can't wait to read a good book or many during those long, hot stretches of summer afternoon. This summer, I am ashamed to say, I have read approximately one. Plus a few cookbooks if you can count those. {cookbooks that I lovingly rearranged yesterday by type and season} And the Country Livings and Pottery Barns I've been devouring. {Yes, I read those, not just look at them. I know, whoa. And from back to front, no less}.

This weekend was not a good one for me and books. I endured a loooong trip to the bookstore searching for my texts, which, by the way, appear to be shuffled beyond recognition purely for the entertainment of the bookstore staff. All this only to get home, read the first page of one and find that after much deliberation, I had bought the wrong book. Property instead of Property. How could I have possibly made that mistake? I think I should work with these publishers to come up with more distinguishing titles, like Property and Other Property. Just a thought. Another thought, if they are going to make books so bizzarely expensive and almost impossible to sell back, why can't they at least make them hardback and give them pretty covers so that they will actually look pretty on a shelf later? Another thought for the publishers. Perhaps I should put them in touch with Pottery Barn. That'd teach 'em a thing or two.

Have you guys been feeling the prep juice flowing in my outfits lately? I think it's just my subconscious leaning toward the whole fall-school vibe that is floating around in the air these days. My subconscious is largely affected by Wal-Mart advertisements for 10 cent notebooks. Among other things. But we won't bother going there. I'm sure once I get back in school I'll fit right in. Until Thanksgiving, when all the Christmas decor starts popping out. Then it'll be light-up rudolf sweaters all the way. What can I say, I have a really strong, festive subconscious. Speaking of school, might I say that I am dreading that little booger like a head cold. I've been practicing hibernation mode {by going into 5493509340-hour-long compulsive picture editing mode, albeit}, but still hibernation. The verdict is out. By the end of the first semester, I'll be cross-eyed with carpel tunnel. Apparently this old lady caaain't hang no ma. I suppose I'll just have to invest in more sunglasses and an armful of bracelets to distract the attention. The things I do for vanity.

I have school orientation coming up two weeks from now and the game plan for the garb is in the brewing stage. My only guidelines are "business casual is suggested." Right. And from those I've quizzed {+ my number one best buddy, google}, I've gotten everything from jeans and a nice sweater { Not happening in Florida. In August.} to a suit {?}. So in preparation and perhaps a bit of sheer desperation, I extend to you my humblest postulation. Like whoa. I'm pretty sure we should note and document that impressive Dr. Suess moment for the day. Or perhaps the fact that it is posted online will take care of that. Regardless, my door is ajar, so I encourage you all to stick your noses right up in my business {no pun} and grant me the pleasure of hearing your best interpretations of the quite-dramatically-under-specific-phrase listed above. Lay like broccoli

How was your weekend? I hope it was stupendous. Ours was quite lovely. Nothing special in particular, just lots of chillin' and junkin' on good grub. We actually had not one or two, but three fails this weekend in the eating department, however. First off, Friday. We ordered a pizza. Might I add that we have been ordering pizzas from this same place for the past four years at least on a bi-monthly basis. Right. The pizza boy got lost {the restaurant is five minutes from the house}, the pizza got cold, he had to return and have the order remade and showed up an hour late. Saturday, we were all geared up for BBQ at Famous Daves. Apparently Dave is not so famous. He went out of business. So we ended up at Steak and Shake {because we were hungraaayy and outback has a 45409813 minute wait.} And then, yesterday, we went to eat lunch only to find that Hopkin's is closed on Sundays. Right then, I think this is a sign that we should get off our lazy rears and cook at home on weekends.

We were much more fortunate in the lazing department. We watched a movie, caught up on some tele and photo editing, I painted my nails twice {once with the lovely pink above that I scored for 25 cents-yessiree-at the drug store}, and we all around just took advantage of a rainy day and enjoyed being slackers for a decent portion of the weekend. Victorious.

Ok, it's Monday, gotta go put on my game face {a.k.a.: makeup}.

Battle Wounds

I had a bad bout with a pair of heels on Tuesday. Everything was going really grand until I took an unexpected turn on some uneven pavement while trying to get in my car. Have you seen the episode of Sex and the City where Carrie falls on the runway? I imagine the whole deal looked a bit like that. Only 20,000 times less glamorous and without Heidi Klum. And I wasn't modeling underwear {thank goodness}. But other than that, it was exactly the same. And then I picked my poor, bloody self up off the pavement and drove home, where Dusty scrubbed away the dirt. A most painful experience. I haven't felt so much like I was five since, well, last week really, but nonetheless, it was very unpleasant. I'll spare you the pictures for the sake of keeping this post PG. Needless to say, I'm wearing my safe heels today {I code them by height. Safe, a little riskkaay, and walking on the wild side. In this case, falling on the wild side.} Also, if any of you have a good suggestion for a better story to explain my booboos, please do tell. Otherwise, I'll be wearing pants and sleeves until my scratched-up, scraped-up self heals in order to avoid repeating this sad little story to anyone else. Thanks in advance.

Yesterday was a rainy sort of a day. Come to think of it, Sunday was too. I seem to be in a certain sort of strange predicament on rainy days. Despite how warm it may be, I always end up freezing. I think it's some sort of a chemical brain reaction that tells me dark skies mean cold. And cold and wet makes me long for warm and cuddly. But that's just my extensive biochemistry background speaking. {joke. har-har} Enter some of my favorite duds for an evening birthday party. Button-up: If you have been following me for any time at all, you know how much I love these. This one in particular because it is extra slouchy and plaid and comfy. Sweatshirt: This one is the softest ever. And it's gray. I {heart} all things gray. {edit to add: most things gray. You can keep the mice.} Jeggings: nuff said. Sperrys: World's best reason to have stinky feet {If you want to know how stinky, ask Dusty. He literally put them up to his nose. I thought I would have to call 9-1-1. Why do boys sniff when you say something stinks?} Glasses: A happy excuse for not wearing makeup. Ya couldn't even tell, could ya? 76 would be the temperature I read on the rearview mirror last night as I was wearing this. Odd? Perhaps.

So yesterday, I had the most productive day of crafting with my friend Maddy. I also discovered that I could spend my life savings at Joann's Fabrics if I didn't have a hint of a conscience to save me from doing so. I got out at just over $13. I would call that not bad. Not bad at all. The best part is I crafted myself a nice little loot of new accessories which I may or may not sport every day from now until...well...a little while from now.

This outfit felt very 60's inspired. Maybe it was the bow. Maybe I'm mistaken on my dates. Either way, I am quite happy with this little wad of felt goodness. Hope your Monday did not feel like a Monday and if it did, well, eat a double-scoop of ice cream and watch Pretty Woman. A sure fire cure to a case of the Mondays. Says Dr. Ramsey. That is if my computer decides to quite being a massive load of stinky pants and cooperate. To all of you lazy bakers who are bonkers over red velvet but faint at the sight of the mile-long ingredient list thereby associated: the following is your cheaters' guide to a right decent cupcake {It's not Lucy and Leo's. But it ain't bad, folks!}. You are welcome. And your husbands and boyfriends too.

Follow instructions for 1 box of red velvet cake mix. {Ammendment: I would suggest replacing part of the water in the recipe with buttermilk. This is the only thing I would change next time around.} Might I also add that it is amazingly magical to watch the chocolate-looking cake mix turn red when you add liquid? Right back to second grade guys. Then to jazz that mess up, you're going to dump in about 1/3 cup of sour cream. And don't play around with low fat, no fat mess either. Go for the gusto! If you really want to impress, that is. Also sprinkle in about 1 tsp. vanilla extract {Homemade taste in a bottle. My dirty little secret. And you thought I always played nice.} Now you are ready to scoop the batter into your cupcake cups of choice and bake as directed until a toothpick poked around in them comes out nice and clean. Allow to cool. I would suggest doing something super fun and distracting {like a loooong bubble bath} while you wait, so you won't be tempted to rush it. Now for the icing, beat together 1 stick of butter and 1 block of cream cheese. Throw in 1 heaping tbsp. of sour cream for good measure. Now dump in a box of powdered sugar {slowly, lesson learned the hard way} and just let the mixer do it's thang for about 6+ minutes. If you need a little milk down in there, have at it but drizzle sparingly as a little goes a long way. It is an extra pretty process if you have a stand mixer. Especially if it is yellow. Or you can use a hand mixer to pre-burn all of the calories you will soon be eating. Put your fluffy frosting in a pastry bag {if you are Martha Stewart or something, but who are we kidding?!}. Chunk that stuff into a freezer bag, cut a hole in the corner and call it good. Frost all but one cupcake with your makeshift piping bag. Crumble that little cupcake and sprinkle it all over it's fellow brother cupcakes. This makes the cupcakes look super fancy and adds to the foolingness that they are actually from-scratch. Trickay. Extra points if you put them on a pretty tray to make them feel special. Nothing gives a boxed cupcake the warm fuzzies like a pretty tray. Now slap on an apron and call yourself Betty Crocker! Or call yourself Betty White. It's kinda whatever. But do go make these cupcakes.

I'm pretty sure I gave new meaning to the phrase "all dressed up and nowhere to go" today. I must have been asked a total of five times what kind of party/event/photo shoot I was headed to this afternoon. If only they knew that this outfit was put together out of the enormous "no" pile of clothes that has been hoarding the space on my bed for I won't tell you how long. I was too lazy to dig through drawers. Actually, I was afraid that the scary cousin of the monster in my closet would pop out due to all the angriness I've been stirring up in them with my indecisiveness and determination not to tidy up. And this bun? It would have stayed sans hairspray, my hair is in such desperate need of a wash. Can we say sanitary?

Regardless, I'm flat disappointed noone took the hint and invited me to a fancy-schmancy party. After hearing tell of it all day, I would have certainly liked to attend one. I think this skirt would be perfect for some twirling and booty-shakin'. I even wore special matching undies. Just incase. Shame. Better luck tomorrow. I'm thinking of going big with a Carrie Bradshaw tutu. Over the top? Maybe. Have I been watching too many Sex and the City reruns lately? Probably.

Why doesn't the weather cooperate with how we want to dress? Today I felt very fallish. So I wore my cowboy boots despite the fact that it is still technically summer. And they did not make it fall. Though the weather may have cooperated a slight bit with a hint of cool breezes and rain. Not amazing, but it's a start. Tomorrow, can it be winter? I have a box of cool-weather clothes itching to get out on the town. The mall was just full of jackets today, all taunting me with their snuggly goodness.

Today was a successful day at being a girl. Some days I feel that I'm better at that than others. I managed a bit of time at the office, followed by shopping with mom {who bought me a gorgeous new skirt for school at Ann Taylor!!}, cupcake baking, painting of the paws and claws, and a Sex and the City marathon. Victorious! I don't know how I'll one-up this tomorrow, but I'm sure I'll think of something. Suggestions?

I've never been an animal print kind of a girl. But I picked out this blouse on a whim and when I pulled it out of the box it was literally screaming at me to put. it. on and wear it to work. And I aaalways listen to talking clothes. Nevermind the fact that it was 100 degrees out and I was in pants and sleeves. That's why offices have air conditioning.

We had a fun little weekend. Friday, we tried a new restaurant with friends called the Midtown Filling Station and it was da bomb. I mean, how could you resist a place with gas pump fronts mounted to the walls and a hostess stand made of old tires? Plus they served up all of the favoritos like mac'n'cheese, burgers, sammies, and tater tots {tater tots!!}, but with a gormet twist. Seafood and andoulli sausage make mac'n'cheese boss. I wish I had taken pictures, but I was shoving an open-faced, loaded sandwich in my mouth. Just take it from me, we were pigs. And it was well worth it.

We also had a girls night and saw Friends with Benefits. It was rauncy, but wet-your-pants hilarious. I would not recommend it to pregnant women or anyone with bladder-control issues. And then, of course, I had to come home and teach myself how to do the Mila Kunis eye-makeup look. It really gives light-eyed girls that sultry pop that comes with having dark eyes and me lovie.

I've been quite the lucky girl lately as far as mail is concerned. Particularly in the aspect of hair. And as such, I would like to introduce you to two of my newest goodies which I happen to be totally infatuated with. El numero uno: this lovely flower band from Jenny at Whimsical Headbands. Seriously, I'm not sure what I would do without something to keep my braided/bun(ned?) hair in check and looking cute with all of the humidity that's been hanging it's hat around here lately. That stuff really is a booger. But retro/hippie looking headbands are certainly the answer. Check, check, check it out.

Fun little sundress is from my friend Maddie's cute online boutique, Sparkle Designs. If you haven't checked her out, you are missing out on all sorts of really reasonably priced dresses and tops that are super fun for wearing.

In other amazing hairness news, I got the motherload of all products from Mr. Fed Ex Man. A HANA flat iron from Misikko. Let me tell ya, this thing is a beast. And I mean beast as in the best flat iron. I straightened my mom's hair as an example because she has about 5 bazillion x more than me and it was and extremely humid, rainy day (code mega 80s hair. Which would be good if it were about 25 years ago. Unfortunately it is no longer 25 years ago and humidity-infested, frizz hair is no longer cute.) That 'do lasted all day long. All. Day. Long. I live for perfect hair like that. Its not too skinny and not too fat, it is juuuust right (I was goldilocks in my past life), making it perfect for a speedy flattening job. And this flat iron gets super hot. But if you aren't into that, there are a TON of heat settings so that you can warm it to the perfect temperature for your hair. Which completely rescues you from having to double and triple swipe each piece (because double and triple swiping ain't hip folks). It looks super natural and silky smooth. Misikko also has a full line of Morrocan Oils for extra silkiness for your locks. Have you tried this stuff? For realz, it's really delicious-smelling and so works. I condition my hair with this wonder juice and love it to pieces! Finally, it comes with all sorts of cases for travel and storage and the absolute prettiest packageing eva! I am a sucker for pretty packaging and storage. Not that you would know it looking at my room. Just sayin. Anywho, this one is definitely worth a try. I'm a CHI girl, but honestly, I may have been converted! And I'm thinking I throw together a little tutorial for curling hair with a flat iron sometime soon. What 'cha think?

The Lake House

If professional relaxation was a sport, I tell ya I'd be a champ. We had the grandest time just chillin' for the past few days and I'm quite convinced that I need to go back. Like right now. We are also now convinced that we need a cute little puppy. All of that sweet little fuzziness and puppy breath stole our hearts. All of this relaxing has taken my work ethic and smashed it like a nasty spider on the bathroom tile. I've been furiously editing pictures all morning and daydreaming about sleeping on a pontoon boat. If you have the chance to spend a few days on a lake, pontooning, jet skiing, eating enormous amounts of delicious food, and otherwise just enjoying your little self, I highly recommend it. I also highly recommend the following recipe for Banana-stuffed french toast. Don't ya just love when something comes out just like you wanted?

Love, Ramsey's Banana-Stuffed French Toast:

Layer 1/2 of a loaf of Italian bread onto the bottom of a large, buttered baking dish. Spread with a mixture of 3 (highly ripened, brown) bananas, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, 1 block of cream cheese, and 1/4 cup powdered sugar all smashed together. Layer on other 1/2 of bread. Whisk away at 6 eggs and 3/4 cup milk with a little cinnamon sprinkled in for good measure and pour all of that on top. Now stick your casserole in the oven at 350 and wait patiently until everything smells really nice and cinnamony and the egg is cooked. Serve with powdered sugar and warm syrup.

Now you should all go grab your darling aprons and make french toast and then crawl back in bed and enjoy it. Doctors orders.

Did we notice I was missing yesterday? I was a busy little bee. Not to worry, I wore nasty sweats with a scrunge bun all day and chased nuggets. Those littles are really just the cutest. And they call me Rae Rae. I always forget just how cute that is. The mail carriers were also feeling super generous yesterday and I received not one, but two whole packages in the mail. Golly geez, I thought I would jump head over heels for the flat iron {which I will be introducing you to in a few days} but then I got a makeup package. I ran out of the house to meet the lady at the truck. Mail people are just the happiest folks. And Dusty and I had a trip to Costco for Crest Whitestrips, razors, and a buggy full of junk food. It was a very balanced shopping cart. We have chips and crackers for days. Oh, and a blow up matress for Dusty to sleep on during our lake trip this weekend. Dusty is going to be very happy about these sleeping arrangements. He just doesn't know it yet. We also grabbed a yummylicious dinner at the food court. Who woulda thought that Costco had such delicious nom noms? And who could go wrong with an enormous, veggie-covered slice of pizza, a mexican beef bake, two drinks, and cup chock-full of chocolate frozen yogurt for under $9. That would not be me. It was a nice little trip. Now lets hope something super awesome takes place tomorrow so you guys won't have to hear about Costco trips anymore.

Decide it would probably be best to run to the drug store and kill time purchasing "the goods" (our goods of choice being three large bags of gummies). 3. Insert goods into your bag which is preferable large enough to stash a small child. 4. Smile sweetly and waltz right past the movie guy. 5. Try to open goods discreetly during the movie. 6. Nibble on your gummiage and gloat to your little selves about how smart you are.

We lived on the edge this weekend. How about you?

Funny little things, no? I could munch on those puppies fo-eva. They are second only to pistachios. Pistachios are boss. Bomb-diggety-o. We bought the mega sack the other day at Costco and munced our way through them on the way to IHOP {Also completely bomb. I mean, pancakes alll day. Everyyyy day. I could kiss the genious that thought of it on the cheek.} Speaking of those delicious nuts, I must inquire as to what Dusty has done with them. Little booger can't have eaten the whole lot.

We ate at 5 Guys again last night. We really don't go often, but every time we do, I seem to post about it. I think the delightful red and white combo just makes it incredibly appetizing. Or burgers and fries just make us extra silly. See evidence above. And they have the best outdoor tables eva because they are located next door to the restaurant with the absolute best music at precisely the right volume level that's not too loud to chat over but loud enough to dance. Dancing to oldies with hamburguesas con papas fritas {notice the bilingualism}=happiness.

To Do: El Yunque. Not to be confused with El "Yunkie", which is how it sounds with a Southern accent. Seriously though, the rainforest is amazing. And it was oh so nice and cool and breezy on the day that we went and we were quite the little hiking troopers. Aaaand there is a real live waterfall at the end of the trail where you can wet your tush in the freezing water and slip on rocks. The wetting and slippage is far more fun than it sounded in that sentence. It's like a movie scene. But not.

Old San Juan. The blue cobblestone streets and color-clad old buildings whisked my heart right up and I think they still have a little piece of it. I just couldn't get enough of their tremendous oldness. And there was shopping, so that was a nice plus.

To Eat: Pinky's. I wish we had discovered this gem of a diner on the first day. I would have gained approximately 54.5 more pounds if I had though. The smoothies come straight to you, still in the blender. And, as if that weren't enough, the massive mound of French toast and country ham certainly was. More than enough. I think my eyes popped out a little when it showed up and my belly definitely popped out a little after.

Barrichia. Traditional Puerto Rican. I recommend eating an abundance of Mufongo. It's everywhere for a reason. Mashed plaintains with chicken. It sounds gross, but it tastes like chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy. Riiight. Honestly. I'm not even pulling your leg.

To Stay: We stayed at the Conrad in Condado, a super ritzy little section with the most mouthwatering, jawdropping collection of luxury vehicles my college-broke little heart has ever witnessed. The pool and ocean views of this joint will delight your palm-tree-loving senses. Napping heaven, I'm telling you.

Downtown Old San Juan. If I were to go back, I would love to stay in one of the antique little boutique hotels downtown. Super unique, probably haunted, but completely charming. With nicely-dressed little doormen. There goes my heart.

Guest post: Sarah from Wearing it on My Sleeves

I would like to introduce y'all to the lovely Sarah. She rocks.

Hi I'm Sarah from Wearing It On My Sleeves. I blog all about fashion and life but one of my favorite things to blog about is reviving old dresses that I find at the thrift store. Here's a preview of just a few of my latest revivals.

I wanted to teach you guys a quick reviving technique that you can do without a machine! One of the things that makes the biggest change in the clothing that I fix is changing the length of it. Here's how to fix your own hem by hand.

1. Cut your dress to the desired length and then iron your hem under anywhere from 1/2" to 1"

2. Thread your needle, pin the hem in place, tie a knot at the end of the thread and bring your needle through the hem fabric at a side seam.

3. With your needle grab a small piece of the back fabric.

4. Then grab a small piece of the hem (the portion that's pinned).

5. Continue this same stitching all the way around the skirt

6. Then when you finish stitching all the way around the skirt. Tie a knot at the end of your thread and cut the thread. Then turn your skirt over and check out your beautiful hand sewed hem!

Something as simple as changing the length of the dress can completely change an old thrift store dress to a chic little numba! Enjoy guys!

I got back yesterday. But I was too tired/lazy to write anything. So here I am. I am also too tired and lazy to deal with the Puerto Rico pictures right now, so here are these. From today.

I forgot how hot it is in Florida. Sticky with a side of no breeze welcomed me back yesterday and I have been laden with sweat ever since. Can we say sexay? I also had a hefty welcome pile of laundry which I have been plowing my way through all day. Me and laundry are so not tight. In fact, if I had the budget to buy new instead of washing my clothes ever again, I just might. How's that for eco-friendly? I would donate them. Of course. There, that's better.

So that's me. Sweat and laundry. And a new bottle of nail polish from Target because I just couldn't help myself. I'm addicted to that stuff, I am. I promise {but don't hold me to it or anything} to post a Puerto Rico travel guide of sorts tomorrow {?}.

I am wearing here what i love the most... polka dots and pink! i usually don't really wear jeans, but this day something came over me! both the pink polka dot shirt and the rust cardigan are for sale in my store just, in case you have the same obsession with polka dots as i do! please do ME a favor and hop on over to my blog sometime, or visit my store tea and tulips. oh yeah, and have a GREAT summer... and drink lots of lemonade, and go on vacation! but make sure you wear sun tan lotion because nobody want to end up a lobster!

HELLOOOOOOO Ramsey Readers!
I am Gentri from Gentri Lee. I CAN NOT believe I am here guest posting on Ramsey's blog! I literally died when she asked me- and then I went to Heaven.

I have thought and thought about what to post about. But this whole "Posting on Ramsey's blog" thing has me so starstruck! I am lost for words. SOOOOO I thought I'd just tell you a little about what Ramsey and I have in common at the moment.
Ramsey and I are both on vacation!
Not together. On opposite sides of the world actually. While she's soaking up the sun I'm soaking from the rain. You see, I will be spending my summer in ALASKA!
Alaska is one of the most interesting and beautiful places I've ever been to. From the tall mountains (including the tallest mountain in North America) to the vast ocean. I've seen more wildlife here than I have my entire life in Utah.

There's also some more interesting things I've learned here. For example, for some reason everyone has personalized liscense plates. A lot of people have colored hair (as in rainbow), I think it helps add color to their lives in the long winter months... maybe. And everyone's sleep schedule is way off, (horseback riding at 2 am??) because the sun never sets in the summer. (to see what I mean you can visit my blog where I posted a video shot at 12am)
While the beaches and sun would be a wonderful place to visit (lucky Ramsey), I'll stick with my mountains and rain. :)

This isn't really what I wore today. And I'm not really hangin' here today. I'm probably soakin' in some rays under the palm trees. In my new black swimsuit and a big floppy beach hat {!}. Perhaps I'm a few shades tanner by now {oh boy, oh please!}. I've probably consumed more than my fair share of tropical fruit. And eaten my way through several pastry shops. I might be about to hike in the rain forest and go swimming under a waterfall. I may have hit up a few vintage stores. And seen an iguana. Or two. But hopefully not. Because they kinda creep me out {Maybe because the only ones I've ever seen are for tourist pictures and wearing baby diapers. That's nightmare material right there.} There's a chance I've learned to Salsa. And about point zero chance of a tutorial when I get home. My hair is likely looking Mad Hatter fabulous from the extra humidity. But hopefully my skin is glowing. I'm missing D-boy. And wishing he was here. That's for sure. He might be missing me too. Probably. So you should send him some love. Because I'm quite positive he is reading this. I love you lovie. A whole bunch of bananas much. And I can't wait to see you and give you the world's best, biggest hug when I get home!

$100 Summer Update

So I know perhaps I have been leaving you hanging on the whole $100 Summer bit. So here is an update. Just incase you were wondering how it was going. Or maybe you weren't. But you should probably read anyway.

1. White tee: these just need updating to avoid the whole grunge thing. Belk {$2 out of pocket-the rest was a gift card that I will not count toward the $100 because it was so old and almost empty. Yeah, gimme a gimme guys.}.

2. Striped tee: I love stripes. Especially when they come with a $2 pricetag. Old Navy sale.

3. Gingham Button-Up: Super lightweight for el summero. Old Navy sale {$7}.

4. Jeggings: I just stinkin' love these and can't get enough of their comfiness. Old Navy sale {$5}.

5. Black maxi skirt: It's a skirt it's a dress it's...really lightweight and awesome. Belk {Ancient giftcard freebie!}

6. Shag-carpet orange suade shoes: Who doesn't need an entirely impractical pair of adorable heels? Not I my friends, not I. Urban Outfitter's sale {$21}.

So far I have spent $37 out of my $100. Not too shabby guys. I still have $63 to spend. Let the hunt begin!

Hi Love Ramsey readers, I'm Ana from Sweet Serendipity. Today I am blog-sitting for Ramsey while she is enjoying her summer vacay. A little about me, I am a 22 year old poor college student. Husband and I have been married for 2 years now. My little blog is pretty much about anything and everything about fashion, us, how to make pretty things and other random stuff.

So I have this thing with clothes. I kind of really love it and I share about my personal style on my blog. I love fashion. I love Thrifting. I love going and searching for those hidden treasures. I'm a thriftaholic. I love finding vintage stuff that if they could talk, they would tell the most awesomeness story ever. Something else I love about thrifting... the prices. My husband also loves that little part since we're poor college students. He always says... "My wallet thanks you!" He cracks me up.

I feel like my style is always evolving, which I love. I love to take those little fashion trends and make them my own, with my own little touch. I love blogging because you can see how much you grow as time goes by, how much your style changes, it's basically your own public journal.

I also love creating. Anything really.

Today was a Tom Petty kind of a day. Then again, what day isn't? I'm also celebrating the Fourth of July early. With a flashy red, white, and blue ensemble, Chick-fil-a, and a little trip to Costco. I think they have a Fourth of July in Puerto Rico too. Or maybe they just skip right from the third to the fifth. Who knows. I just wanted to err on the side of safety. So, I think I've got us squared away on the whole trip thing. I have a few posts that I have sneakishly pre-written and I'm sure you'll have a festivity-filled weekend to keep you busy. Or maybe you'll sit at home all weekend wondering what in the world you'll do without my little blog to read. Oh, however will you survive not knowing exactly what I wore each day? We're kind of at the point where if I don't photograph my outfit it didn't happen. If it would make you feel better to think I walked around in my unders each day, have at it. I promise to update you all when I get back. Then perhaps you can sleep again.

Well, Bon Voyage. {Actually that's what you say when leaving on a boat. I have absolutely no clue what the exit cue is when leaving on a plane. Nada. But whatever it is, consider it said.} I'm off tomorrow and I will see ya'll on the flip side.

I think I woke up on the dramatic side of the bed today. I don't know what side that is on your bed, but on my bed, it is the right. Or the left. Depending on how you look at it. I was feeling particularly saucy. So I wore an overly extensive amount of layers considering the mountainous heat we're facing. I think I liked it. I also woke up on the late side of the bed. But that one is sort of old news. Dusty walked in mid-tease on his way to work to wish me good morning. That was his first non-finished tease product experience and lets just say I believe I enlightened him. Light socket style. You don't get this kinda height from nothin'.
